Materiel condition record
The same weapon comes back changed.
Use and exposure remain attached to the weapon you carry. A firearm may return hot, dirty, poorly lubricated, damaged, or uncertain.
Inspection improves what you know. Maintenance can recover serviceable condition while wear and permanent damage remain part of the weapon history.

The firearm, magazine, chambered cartridge, and ammunition condition remain distinct parts of one physical weapon state. Heat and exposure continue to matter after the immediate fight.

Fouling

Lubrication
conditionThe remaining protective and friction-reducing state of moving components.
Temperature
CCurrent weapon heat and whether continued firing is increasing risk.
Wear
conditionAccumulated use that maintenance cannot simply erase.
Permanent damage
conditionLasting mechanical harm carried forward with the weapon.
Stoppage
stateThe immediate failure state that must be identified before the weapon can return to service.
Magazine state
identity / roundsThe inserted physical magazine and the cartridges it still contains.
Chamber state
loaded / empty / faultWhat is physically present at the firing position.
Ammunition condition
conditionThe state of the cartridges carried inside the weapon or magazine.
Exposure history
